Been to the Stables many times in the passed and always had good service and a lovely meal.... but what a let down this time!.. 11 of us booked to take our mother out for her 90th birthday, the place was not full at all so cant understand what happened this time? after we all sat and ordered our drinks we placed our orders soon after and this was the start of it all going down hill. we had to wait round 45 minutes for the starters to arrive, they were very nice but we had to wait almost an hour after the plates had been cleaned away before the mains came out, i had a stake but was not supplied with a stake knife as no one else was!... i didnt want to make a fuss as did not want to upset people at our table, food was ok but not as nice as in the passed, after the main meal plates were taking away we had to wait yet ANOTHER hour before the desserts turned up, we were all getting very fed up by this time, staff didnt seem to care at all,,,,, the other problem was taking my father in his wheelchair to the disabled toilets to find we had to wait because one of the staff was in using them (not on) all in all not a good day think it will be a long time before we come back...... as i say what a shame as weve had many meal here this year!... you need to nip this in the bud The Stables or you will lose a lot of return customers like ourselves, and weve spent quite abit of money here this year up to now but no more!
We has family visiting from U.S. We recommended the Stables., we have had some very nice meals there. It was beautiful evening so we sat outside until time for our booked meal for 6. We were firstly approached by wine waiter, on asking our lady guest what would she like to drink, She sheepishly replies she had ordered a drink on arriving but it had not been served, this was some 45 minutes before. Wine waiter promptly apologized, All drinks arrived with double apology. We ordered our meal through Wine waiter who was pleased to take order. $ordered steak and ale pie. Which was served a good half hour after our starters. However the waitress serving, after serving 5 mealstold us the last serving on it's way. To the lady who had been unlucky with her drink. We had to ask the wine waiter, only person around where this last pie was, He was clearly embarrassed and went swiftly to kitchen returning with the last meal. All in all the service was atrocious. We expected and have had much better experiences here, But! No problem with quality of food, many be vedge could have been hotter but that is knit picking. I am reluctant to recommend again I'm afraid as our relatives do not visit often but as ex person in tourism I am often asked for recommendations
Decided to visit 6th July for lunch celebrating our wedding anniversary having got married at Beamish Hall 6 years ago. We paid and ordered drinks at the bar to then overhear someone saying the weren’t serving food for an hour due to a busy kitchen so having already bought drinks we decided to sit and wait. Half an hour had past so my husband thought he’d asked for menus so we could decide in good time to then be told by the waitress it would be an hour before we could order. Once my husband explained we were already told an hour wait half an hour ago the waitress just said that a big party had come in and the kitchen had told her another hour. This to me was either poor communication/management or lack of staffing.Firstly we would of went else where had we know before ordering drinks and then for the staff to the change the waiting time again was very annoying, especially when we had a small baby with us. We weren’t going to wait a further hour so took our business up the road to the south causey.
I have never had a bad Sunday lunch here good portions and quality meat and veggies you can go large if you wish, but there’s plenty on the normal one . I’ll be back
Very nice place to take the family on a nice day. Nice courtyard setting, beautiful buildings and a great, well maintained park for the kids to play. The food was nice and service matched.

I was too full but I attempted the sticky toffee pudding which was also lovely. Very nice atmosphere, happy staff and management. We will definitely return.
I chose the roast beef, and I wasn’t disappointed. The veg was ample, cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly and attentive. The prices for Sunday lunch were very reasonable. Overall, we left
The sticky toffee pudding & ice cream was to die for! We weren't hurried to leave when we had finished our meal, so we had baileys liqueur coffees to end the evening which were delicious. Will definately
My girlfriend chose the mini roast beef dinner, and I had the crab on toast, which was super. The portion of roast was huge, easily a normal Sunday lunch for a hungry person, but the quality was excellent,
Had the teriyaki chicken wings to start from the specials menu and the Angus burger off the main menu. Food was packed with flavour with good portions at reasonable prices. Service was excellent and
Highly recommend the rib eye steak? It melted in the mouth. We shared olives and breads to start. Once again, couldn't eat a desert as was full. Perfect meal and a perfect stay
Bread and olives to start, followed by Rib eye steak for me and beef and ale pie for the Mrs. Both meals were served in good time, by professional and caring staff. The steak in particular was cooked
