it hasn’t been a restaurant for a couple of years. It was knocked down a few months ago for housing so should be removed from TripAdvisor.
Came here last night and was totally appalled by everything from the moment we went in!! We were a party of 14, celebrating a birthday, there was 4 small children and a baby with us, we were told we had to pre order food when we booked, which we did. Our table was booked for 7.45pm, there was only one other table of patrons using the restraunt, after several complaints to the staff we were finally served our pre ordered starters at 9.30pm!!! We had ordered 6 potatoe skins, soup and a garlic bread, what we got was 6 portions of barely warm wedges, a bowl of dishwater and a garlic bread, at no time were we informed there was no skins although at this point we were told THERE WAS NO CHEF!!! After sending them back and after another long wait, what can only be described as something you wouldn't eat on I'm a celebrity get me out of here was served to us!! I myself had ordered mince and dumplings and what arrived was a bowl of spaghetti bolognese sauce with 2 flatbreads floating on top, a bowl of undercooked vegetables and a mound of paper mache which I think was potatoe!!! The well done steaks had blood dripping out of them, the chicken burger was 3 fried soggy pieces of chicken served in a bun!! Needless to say none of us will ever be returning!!!!
Visited this place several times when it was Carlitos run by the Hollathans Group.Visited only once back in June and it was dire (see previous review); following better reports decided to revisit once again, but were left still a bit disappointed.Friday night, what I would call 'peak time', only one out of three beers available but after 2 pints of this it too was unavailable, i.e. no beer on a Friday night. Waited 1 hour and 10 minutes before asking waitress if she wanted to take our order?; there were only 3 tables occupied!First choice for main course from the rather limited menu also unavailable; very basic choice of starters which were ordinary to say the least; awaiting a bottle of wine at the table for our main course, but guess what...........our choice was also unavailable. However the waitress did offer us another choice of 2 wines at the same price as the one we had originally chosen; glad I didn't pay full price for it as it was very poor.Main courses when they arrived were reasonably good, but a chef should not go wrong with a steak and slow cooked belly pork in my view! All in all another disappointing meal and had to share our Friday night out with a very young baby screaming for part of the evening?Don't think we will be back again unfortunately.
I went to this restaurant previously when it was Carlito's (not overly impressed when it was this restaurant). This appears to a rebrand, On the plus side, food prices were reasonable - although choice was limited - the function room has also been opened up with free quality entertainment supplied so you can complete your evening. On the down side, the food was average, some menu items not available, pizzas bases singed (authentic wood oven cooked perhaps?) and the beer selection was not very imaginative. This restaurant has the all the markings of a rebirth after a difficult labour (Carlito's) with slow and gradual growth before getting its act together and really taking off. I wish The Old Club Restaurant & Bar good luck but I don't think I'll be going back to spend my money until it is the real deal. Hopefully others will disagree and continue to support this venture as it matures.
We decided last minute we were going to go out for food... it's about half a mile away from home... so instead of having to take the car,so we could have a drink... we walked up. It was very quiet, which is a shame. But it didn't take away from the great service we received, the waiter was great, he made sure we had everything we wanted. We both had a starter they were fantastic! We then both had steaks... wow... just wow... the onion rings were huge! Everything we had was stunning! We will be back and making it a regular occurance... only thing I can complain about... it's not even a complaint... but... the had no tomato sauce left ... but it's definitely somewhere you should go!
