A good bar with real ale and an extensive selection of whisky - we dropped in several times whilst on holiday. The staff were really welcoming. The menu looked good so we booked ahead for the restaurant and returned for anexcellent meal. The service was friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was high quality (a lot of it sourced locally), fresh, and was cooked from scratch on the premises. There were 2 menus: the 'specials' and a comprehensive everyday menu. We enjoyed scallops with black pudding and mussels to start, then seafood thermidor and langoustines, with a decent bottle of red. Delicious. The portions were generous so we failed to try any of the desserts. The conservatory was comfortable and airy, and fairly quiet on a cool and rainy evening.
Very popular restaurant so booking advisable and its easy to see why, great food in nice surroundings.I particularly enjoyed the large mussels.Nice bar with a good selection and a very efficient, friendly barmaid. We had 2 lovely evenings here meeting with family from Ullapool.
Was here last night. The staff coped admirably well with the High School Leaving Dinner along with a Conservatory full of diners. The seafood was lovely and fresh, and we were happy with all our food. They did bring us chips instead of the potatoes we asked for, but as they were so busy we let it pass. In spite of how busy it was, the service was quick and cheerful. The sweet was my favourite course with the Cranachan being my choice, I liked the twist of it being mixed berries, which I didn’t think I would.
We rang to check that there was space to park and there was lots...They were very busy so booked a table for 6.45 .... the staff were all friendly and helpful, however the food was mediocre...My husband had the steak burger which had a very strange and smooth consistency and I tried the deep fried langoustines, which at £16.50 were somewhat underwhelming and greasy.... I am not sure that this is the best way to cook them...We shared a Morefield version of cranachan which was a bit weird, no taste of whiskey and served with watery mixed berries....Overall, the meal was a little disappointing, although the choice of beer and cider was good...[Full review]
We were back here in this hotel once again after a period of several months away and were looking forward to our return visit which we enjoyed very much. The surroundings are very pleasant and the staff are charming and helpful. It is a warm, welcoming place with a good range of food available. Prices are very fair for this part of the land.
We had steak and Guinness pie and lamb roast and it had a real home-made feel. Extensive menu of starters, mains and puddings and a whisky tour option! Would recommend.
The seafood is lovely and fresh, I had the seafood stew, was one of the most tastiest dishes I have had. Everyone enjoyed the food. It is good value for the type of food they serve. Would highly
The Seafood risotto consisted of dry rice ("cooked to perfection"), some deep frozen shrimps, one clamp and one lost piece of indeterminable fish. The only thing drier than the rice were the mussels.
The seafood platter is an arrangement of dry mussels and an assortment of smoked and dry salmon, pickled herring and three langoustines, everything chilled and tasteless, served with three slices of
Had a very good evening meal here, we shared a starter the seafood platter which was excellent, but I did find the cold mussels unusual. There was a variety of mains including seafood, meat and veggie
Hope to return some time - and to find that the seafood platter is back on the menu!!
My husbnd had soup to start and I had fish goujons, we both had roast lamb. The meal was tasty and reasonable
When we arrived we envisaged patronising the Morefield with perhaps an beer and fish and chips. Boy were we wrong! We were asked to come in early as they were busy. We followed the recommendation of
The seafood was very tasty - the stew/ragoût was particularly good. The staff was very helpful and kind to the toddler in our party. A very good experience overall.
I had langostines, hubby had steak and friends had fish and chips and mussels. Desserts were excellent. Overall a friendly efficient restaurant and reasonably priced. Can recommend.
One night I fancied the seafood risotto but I'm not a lover of rices, after discussion with Tony, he offered to adapt with dish and use linguine instead, what turned up was another a great dish, one
Seafood risotto exceptional. Beer good .
