Positive: Friendly staff in a charming hotel. Absolutely worth the stay., Negative:
Positive: Friendly hard working staff, especially at dinner! Clean, comfortable rooms and centrally located. Tasty food at breakfast and dinner, Negative: A long wait for dinner, an hour after ordering, there were 7 of us, however the food, when it arrived, was delicious.
Positive: For such a narrow hotel the rooms were perfectly formed. Guess not everyone would like wash basin in bedroom but only was to be able to put shower and WC in 'bathroom' due to width of building., Negative: We weren't warned there would be a disco on the Saturday night. Loud music until 1.00 am that at times made the room vibrate. Drunken hen party didn't disperse until 2.00 am which left us very weary Sunday morning.
Positive: The staff were extremely polite helpful and always available on site. Free parking throughout the town. Meals at the Star were excellent. Good base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway., Negative: Would have been nice to have had a beer garden at the Star as the weather was great.
Positive: Lovely friendly staff. Both dinner and breakfast were lovely. Moffat is a lovely village and the hotel is right on the main street. The room was very nice and clean., Negative: Nothing, everything was very good
We came here as a friend had told us about this very quaint and quirky pub (the narrowest in Britain). We were very warmly greated by staff and choose meat lasagne, chilli, kids scampi and kids chicken
Stopped for a light lunch, 1 cheese and tomato sarnie, 1 baked potato and chillie. Won't bore u with details but Greggs is upmarket to this, a soup kitchen is upmarket to this. Pre pack chillie, blotting
Went here for lunch last weekend on our way back to Falkirk. had traditional roast beef for our meal and it was great. Great decoration and friendly staffs.
The lady better bar was friendly and took out food order promptly. We ordered a fish & chips and a steak pie, both of which were delicious. We were also introduced to 'Moffat Dollop', a tomato/mustard
The décor is as others have stated a bit staid 1960s. We skipped starters and I ordered Macaroni Cheese with baked potato .My OH had scampi and chips. Both meals were very good. We ate the lot. I'd
We would return to the Star (we've heard the pies are a treat) and maybe just opt for an ice cream sundae for our sweet.
A warm welcome from the young man who served us and a lovely meal. The roast beef was presented to a high standard and for me the macaroni was really tasty. We really enjoyed our meal and will return,
The food great and very well priced off a reasonably sized menu with plenty of choices. I can highly recommend both the macaroni cheese and the fish & chips whilst hubby recommends the Haggis & needs.
Had game soup and sandwich on the fri and roast beef dinner on the Sunday. Both delicious and excellent value for money.
