Are they expecting a deluge of diners here?!!! Far too many tables and chairs, could hardly move for them and no leg room, Had to shift a few chairs to get to table and table was overlarge.Strange place, waitress maybe not got English as first language as she seemed a bit odd, scones tasty but very, very dry,tea fine, well its a tea bag isn't it cant go wrong with that,Kids got fish and chips, obviously pre frozen and bland, Décor okay and toilet okay butfor goodness sake lose a table or two in here to make more room as clearly they are not getting used,We went in Saturday afternoon 14 November, at 2 30 pm and we were the ONLY people there and we were there for an hour,-nobody else came in at all,
This was my, and my families first visit to Quality Cup since approximately 8 years ago when it was called Failte. It was a very busy and popular place back then and would be full with customers on a Saturday lunchtime. Times have clearly changed however. When we arrived at Saturday lunchtime there was only one table occupied. This sent alarm bells ringing but we chose to stay anyway as we were all very hungry. The wall décor and furnishings were nice enough. Lots of retro photos to jazz the place up a bit and the tables and chairs were comfortable enough but the problem was there were too many tables and chairs for such a small place. It was too packed in and too tight. There was virtually no space between each table and very little leg room. The place would definitely benefit from loosing a table or two to make more room. We had a pram with us and we had to move the furnishings to even get to our table. The menu was very basic. The usual sandwiches, paninis and toasties and hot meals. The sort of food you'd expect in most Scottish cafes. The text menu itself was quite a bland looking menu and could really use a facelift. We ordered a coronation chicken toastie, a tuna Panini, teas and a scone. I asked for a green tea and was given the choice of green tea or green tea with lemon. I asked for the standard green tea. I could see the waitress taking the tea bag out of the green tea with lemon box and putting it in a tea pot and filling it with water. I could see she was giving me the wrong tea so I politely told her that she just poured me the wrong tea. That was to be the start of our problems. I asked for my toastie to be on brown bread and it came in white, which I pointed out to the waitress and she seemed to get a bit defensive. She returned with her notepad and showed me that she wrote white, not brown, implying that I actually said white. I didn't really have the heart to tell her that she obviously just wrote the wrong type of bread down, or wasn't listening to my order, as I always order brown bread, always. The side salad that came with our plate was bland with no dressing and no offer of sauces was made. What really made us smile though was the hula hoops crisps that accompanied the salad. That's right, hula hoops. Classy. At least it wasn't monster munch. We also asked for a muffin for our 3 year old daughter but they had none so we opted for a scone instead which was fine. We also asked for fruit for our daughter but that never arrived at all. Good points ... The scone was nice, and there was nothing wrong with our teasBad points ...Not enough space, food was average to poor, waitress made too many mistakes and seemed overly defensive, no baby changing facilities and unfortunately no customers. Based on our experience, we can see why. Must improve if we are ever to return.
Nice atmosphere and good service. I had a roast vegetable panini, which was a bit ordinary for £4.95. The specials on the board were far better value (e.g. quiche and chips or salad for £4.20).
