The food was really good and the service was very friendly and quick, although it was a Tuesday night and quite quiet. It’s very quant with lots of character. It would get a 5 out of 5 if it got a good makeover as its looking a bit tired.
We visited the lairhillock early evening for a bite to eat. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, especially Mae. We all really enjoyed our meals, good variety of specialson the daily board to choose from as well as the normal menu. Well worth a visit
We met up with family we hadn’t seen in many years here last night and had the most amazing evening! Obviously the family helped a little Seriously though we all had a brilliant evening. The service was friendly and prompt, we never waited for anything but at the same time the staff were never intrusive. We all agreed that the food was delicious! Every one of us gave 5 stars for our meals! I personally had the Haggis, neeps and tatties with a whiskey sauce and honestly I think it may be the best haggis and whiskey sauce I have ever had! It was to die for!!It’s been many years since we have been here but we won’t be leaving it so long until the next time!
Well worth making the trip here but you need transport(or an expensive taxi) as it is remote from Aberdeen but is well worth the effort Typical country pub food of excellent quality and in winter great to be close to the log fire Also offers smaller portions for those with a lesser appetite and exceptional value for moneyAttentive staff
Last time I visited was 12 years ago, has not changed still good tasting food. The Cullen Skink is the best in Aberdeen if not Scotland just as I remembered it. Also had the beef burger which was homemade, nice and juicy. Finished it of with the sticky toffee puddingwhich again was top notch. Pertly of choice on the menu with a specials board. Visited on Sunday evening which was pretty quiet. Staff were attentive and friendly. Will be back to try more of the menu.
We then had sticky toffee pudding, it was also served cold! A very poor attempt for the prices charged. Certainly won't be back. Used to be so good in years gone by
My husband and I popped in for lunch today and both ordered the Roast Beef. It looked and tasted amazing. The Yorkshire puddings were massive, and light. The gravy was rich and thick. The beef was
Great roast beef and lemon cheesecake. Staff friendly and attentive. Nice atmosphere.
We all had roast beef. Slightly fatty and no green veg! Yorkshire pudding was very light and tasty. We stayed for a few hours and were welcome to stay. Price was fair and we all left happy. Need greens
Yorkshire pudding was very light and tasty. We stayed for a few hours and were welcome to stay. Price was fair and we all left happy. Need greens next time!
However, we sat for a while to let the food go down and then ordered the sticky toffee pudding which was delicious. It came with sticky toffee ice-cream as well which was unusual but tasty. Including
My husband took the pie of the day which was chicken and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Both dishes were very generous leaving us quite full up and unsure if we would manage the pud. However, we sat for a
The desserts were also superb, like the sticky toffee pudding and egg nog pannacotta which I think had wine and raspberry sauce. Only but was the bread, it came cold and not fresh. Overall great place
My husband and I shared the chicken and mushroom pie and the fish pie. Both were very good. Good selection of Scottish beers too. Very warm atmosphere and friendly service. The toffee pudding and ice
We both opted for the chicken, mushroom and pancetta pie, which couldn't be faulted and again was served really hot. Would have loved to have had a dessert to see if it lived up to the high standards
We took out Daughter and three Grandchildren last Sunday and the food was very good, particularly the roast beef with the most intriguing volcanic Yorkshire pudding. Allin all well worth the drive from
My wife's fish cakes from the main menu were really tasty. Dessert was a rhubarb crumble with ginger ice cream, very home made and very nice. Overall, a very nice experience in one of the only "proper
Excellent smoked haddock, cheese and bacon fishcakes - these were more than enough on their own for lunch. Nice relaxed ambience in the conservatory. Service a little slow and no one came to check if we
Met a friend for lunch today 6 January and thoroughly enjoyed the fish cakes, lovely and crispy on the outside, creamy inside we had our lunch in the conservatory which was comfortable. Looking forward
My boyfriend had the roast beef special but was miffed not to get a Yorkshire pudding. I think stocks were low as it was coming up to the holiday. Service was a little bit slow but it was busy. All
