Came here as recommended in a guide book. Would not recommend it to anyone. £9.50 for the lunch special - 2 small “artisan” sausages, baked beans and one thin slice of stale bread. I also ordered the large mineral water and received a normal 330ml bottle - I queried this and was told that was the large. This was charged at £4!The stovies were tasty but a small portion for a big price. The bill of over 22£ for 2 small mains and two drinks nearly gave me indigestion.
We arrived at the cafe looking for lunch less than an hour from closing time but were greeted politely and served within good time. The staff were happy to accomodate special dietary needs which meant a slight adaptation to one of their menu items which was very much appreciated by us.Everyone's food was well presented, made from good quality ingredients and very tasty. A selection of their delicious sweet treats and hot drinks brought our meal to a pleasing end and we left satisfied and very impressed.
As regulars here, we felt it had seriously gone downhill today. I had the smoked salmon and cream cheese on a bagel. Initially I thought the bagel was meant to be crisp, but it soon became obvious that it was actually stale and I couldn't eat it all. We were charged £4.40 for a pot of tea that just barely managed to fill 2 cups. I asked a passing waitress for a pot of hot water so we could have a second cup of tea. It never arrived. I complained about all this when the waiter came to clear the plates and he just shrugged his shoulders and made a face, saying he would bring the water. I said forget it as we were ready to leave. As we got up to leave, the waiter brought the water. I told him I said to forget it. He shrugged his shoulders again and walked away leaving the water on the table. This level of service is shocking nowadays, and we will seriously avoid this place now for a long time - there are plenty more to choose from. Also I never order a cake or traybake here as they are displayed uncovered on plates close to where people queue up to pay, and I've often seen flies land and walk all over them.
Almost £4 for this bacon roll which is amongst the worst food I’ve eaten.Serve it crispy, or if you can’t manage that take it off your menu.Sauce isn’t offered either.Just avoid.
Having researched the North Berwick area on Tripadvisor for a light lunch this was the establishment that seemed to stand out. A short drive from the main town situated near Drem we found this lovely eatery. It is only small and seemed quite popular but once you taste the freshly cooked food, especially the quiches you can understand why. The food was delicious, the service good and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We felt that we had value for money and we could not find any negative aspects. All good and we would recommend.
Great sandwiches and their loaded potato skins were delicious. Great service and attention to detail. Nice things in the shop and we left with some local honey which is really good. We’ll definitely
Nice place to stop for lunch, good selection of sandwiches, potato skins, cakes etc. Good selection in shop too.
We had potato skins, quiche, stovies and mushrooms on toast. Salads were fresh and tasty and my daughter loved the skins. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Would also recommend the cakes! Shop had
I ordered a fish platter - fish pate, prawns, smoked salmon, salad, oatcakes and bread. My friend ordered a terrine, which the waiter came back to advise they didn't make any more. Our meals were fresh,
Smoked salmon, mackerel pate, prawn cocktail with side salad and brown bread. All delicious.
Chicken Burger was very good.
On the suggestion of the staff I had the pulled pork sandwich. This was excellent, succulent tender pork with the most amazing apple sauce and served on a toasted brioce roll. Coffee and cake to follow,
Thick slices of smoked salmon, a homemade fish pate and a hearty helping of prawns. We didn't have room for the cakes but have sampled them in the past and they are great. They only have around 10 tables
We spied some beautiful carrot cake which had just been made and was being put on display and bought some along with some rocky road to take home with us - it was delicious and I am sorry that I didnt
